Grand Slam champions Lleyton Hewitt and Iva Majoli are among 18 captains set to helm their teams at the United Cup when the 2025 edition begins on 27 December.

Hewitt, a two-time major winner in singles, and Majoli, the 1997 Roland Garros champion, will return to captain Team Australia and Team Croatia respectively.

Former world No.39 Christian Ruud will also return to captain Norway – a team headlined by his son and current top-10 star Casper Ruud.

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime is the most notable of the playing captains; the former world No.6 will lead a squad that also features 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez.

Renzo Furlan, a former top-20 player and long-time coach of Jasmine Paolini, will captain Team Italy after an incredible season with Paolini during which she cracked the world’s top five.

As a result, Furlan was recognised as WTA Coach of the Year, with Michael Russell earning the equivalent ATP award.

Russell, who will captain the top-seeded United States, works with Taylor Fritz, who will represent the stars-and-stripes at United Cup 2025. Just like Paolini, Fritz reached his first Grand Slam final this year and peaked at world No.4.
